Welcome to the Upshur County Health Department
The mission of the Upshur County Health Department is to protect, promote, and maintain the health of the entire population of Upshur County. This is to be accomplished by providing a healthier and safer environment, promoting healthier lifestyles, and providing services (i.e. immunizations, pediatric services, etc.) which will improve the health of citizens of the county, resulting in less illness, better overall health and well-being and greater longevity of life.
The Upshur - Buckhannon Health Department is in the process of updating our Mobile Home Park and Camp Ground Operational Permits. We will be sending out the application for a permit to operate in the near future. Go to the Environmental tab to access additional information.

Effective June 12, 2015, Food Service Workers wanting to get a Statewide Food Handler card can get one at the Health Department after completing the Food Handler Class at the Senior Center or the Tap-Series on-line course. Those completing the on - line course will need to bring in their certificate of completion, to obtain the statewide card. There is an additional $10.00 fee to obtain the Statewide Food Handler Card.
Food handler training is the 1st Monday of each month at the Upshur County Senior Center at 1:00pm. If the first Monday is a holiday, contact the Health Department to find out when the next Food Handler class is scheduled. There is a $10.00 registration fee. Those unable to attend can go to www.tapseries.com and complete the web base course.
